I found the below statistics rather interesting. This comes from the Pew Research Center and looks at what political parties the viewers of each news outlet identifies with. It's interesting which network has the most balanced viewers...

33% Democrat
22% Independent
6% Other/Don't Know
CNN
18% Republican
51% Democrat
23% Independent
8% Other/Don't Know
MSNBC
18% Republican
45% Democrat
27% Independent
10% Other/Don't Know
Network News
22% Repulican
45% Democrat
26% Independent
6% Other/Don't Know
If you look at these numbers and factor in the ratings (average for 8-11PM Mon-Sun) I think it gets even more interesting.
Fox News Channel (2.1 million viewers)
819,000 Republicans
693,000 Democrats
462,000 Independents
126,000 Other/Don't Know
MSNBC (699,000 viewers)
125,820 Republicans
314,550 Democrats
188,730 Independents
69,900 Other/Don't Know
Nearly as many Democrats watch Fox News Channel (693,000) as the TOTAL viewership of MSNBC (699,000).
